Meet the Model: Madeleine Cravens
Madeleine Cravens is the kind of girl you want in your BFF circle. She always arrives to our photo shoots with a bright smile, positive spirit and perfect hair. At Eccentrics Boutique, we believe it’s important to be more than just a pretty face. And Maddy is definitely one of the beautiful souls.
Tell us about yourself...
I am from Du Quoin, Illinois. I come from a close-knit family of six. Our house is never quiet and always a fun atmosphere. And we loooove to take vacations. I believe in being yourself and doing whatever makes you happy - no matter what others think of it. Everyone is "beautifully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). I believe that everyone should not be scared to be themselves and stay true to who they are.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you “grew up?” Has this changed?
When I was younger, I wanted to be a surgeon. Yes, my career path has definitely changed. I am a marketing major at SIU. I am also on the university's Saluki Shakers dance team.
When did you start dancing?
I started dancing when I was three years old. I loved being in front of a crowd of people and putting on a performance. I love to compete and perform for others. Dancing has played one of the biggest roles in my life and I am never happier than when I am dancing.
Who is your best friend that you can always count on?
Hannah Marek is my best friend and I know I can count on her for literally anything and everything. My sisters, Olivia and Lauren, are also my very best friends. I would be lost without my sisters.
If you have a day with no commitments, what is your ideal way to spend the day?
A day with no commitments would most likely be spent with my best friend Hannah. We would go do something outdoors and then shop, lay out, go out to eat and then watch a movie or Netflix series.
What are you top binge-worthy shows on Netflix?
I love to binge watch One Tree Hill, Grey's Anatomy and Friday Night Lights. There are not any certain characters in these particular shows I feel I relate to, but I definitely feel like I know all of them on a personal level.
Does fashion play a big role in your life?
I love putting outfits together and shopping. My favorite fashion trend right now is definitely seeing some of the baggy/edgy clothes coming back into style. I like to be comfortable, so those boyfriend jeans are right up my alley.
Do you have a favorite outfit that you modeled at Eccentrics?
The denim jumpsuit I recently modeled is hands-down my favorite one. It is so fun and edgy, and totally my style. You could wear it for so many different things. Dress it up or down and it will still be a jaw dropper.
How would you define your personal style?
I wouldn't say I have just one style. I like to change it up depending on my mood or where I am going.
Do you have a beauty secret you wish to share?
Taking care of my skin is something I am very strict about. I wash my face every morning when I wake up and every night before I go to bed. I use the Clinique three step process. It has been my favorite out of everything I have ever tried.
What is one thing no one would believe to be true about you?
I am a pretty shy person when I first meet someone, but I love talking in front of groups of people and giving presentations. Public Speaking was one of my favorite classes.
